Adam Richards
For ten years, Adam Richards has litigated all manner of cases at both the trial and appellate level in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island as well as in Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Orange Counties in New York State. Adam regularly appears in the Federal District Courts for both the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as in New York State Supreme Court, the Family Courts of the State of New York, Surrogates Courts of the State of New York, New York City Civil Court and Commercial Landlord Tenant Court in Manhattan.
Additionally, having spent time as in-house counsel to a start-up business, Adam counsels clients on a variety of issues pertinent to start-up and small businesses.
While working at previous firms, including Holland & Knight LLP, a firm with approximately 1200 lawyers with offices in more than a dozen U.S. cities, Adam spent many hours working with those who could not afford legal representation and, in 2001, Adam was honored for this work by the Legal Aid Society, receiving a Pro Bono Publico Award for his “meticulousness, excellence, and compassion in handling a complex, contested matrimonial dispute involving severe domestic violence and other issues.”
Adam was born and raised in a small town called Hassocks, just outside of Brighton in Sussex, England. Adam obtained his undergraduate degree in Politics from the University of Hull, England in 1987 and the Law Society of England and Wales' Common Professional Examination in 1989 from London Guildhall University. After immigrating to New York City in 1990, Adam obtained his Juris Doctorate ( cum laude ) from New York Law School in 1996.
Adam lives in Brooklyn, with his wife, Claudia Cantarella, a partner and Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Department at the international law firm Salans, and family. He has three children, Jacob, Lucas and Zoë.
On any given Monday night, Adam can be found playing soccer in the Urban Soccer League for his team of many years, Albion FC.
