Adam Richards
Adam Richards has been practicing law in New York since 1996.
Adam obtained his undergraduate degree in Politics from the University of Hull in the North East of England in 1987. Soon thereafter, Adam moved to London, worked as a clerk at a major international law firm and, in 1989, obtained the Law Society of England and Wales' Common Professional Examination from London Guildhall University.
In 1990, Adam moved from London to New York. In 1996, Adam obtained his Juris Doctorate ( cum laude ) from New York Law School. While attending law school at night, Adam worked during the day for Wachtel & Maysr, LLP, a New York law firm known for its commercial litigation, matrimonial, real estate and white-collar criminal defense practices.
Adam has experience with both large and small firms in New York, including the 1200 lawyer firm, Holland & Knight LLP and the well-known intellectual property firm, Pryor Cashman, LLP, and has steered clients through all phases of the litigation minefield. Adam has taken numerous commercial cases to trial and has briefed and argued appeals in a number of different fields. Adam also spent time working in-house with a small, privately funded start-up corporation and, as a result, his firm counsel's clients who seek business and transactional advice as well as clients that require assistance with issues concerning corporate governance.
As a review of the firm's Practice Areas will show, Adam's experience is broad and diverse. Adam has litigated in many fields including commercial disputes, minority shareholder disputes, matrimonial and divorce proceedings, real estate disputes, including commercial landlord-tenant disputes, libel and slander actions and intellectual property disputes including copyright, trademark, and trade dress infringement actions. Adam has also litigated will contests and has represented lesbian and gay clients both in resolving partnership disputes and drafting domestic partnership agreements.
